Innovation Area ‘Enhanced Natural, Built and Cultural Environment’
Kailzie Local Area Wildlife Education & Discovery project
Project to develop Kailzie Osprey Viewing Centre into an improved and more sustainable visitor attraction with new digital equipment for viewing wildlife and osprey nests, wildlife events including an annual festival and courses in photography and wildlife footage editing, species identification, field-craft and conservation. (£77,500)
Innovation Area ‘Distinctive Local Products’
Recreational Cycling 2011 – 2013
The Tour of Britain is coming to the Borders in 2011 and this project will be helping to deliver the event and to tie it into other project activities which will develop businesses and schools to make the Borders an excellent destination for cycling enthusiasts. (£128,000)
Scottish Borders Events Development & Digital Marketing
In 2010 the Scottish Borders Events Strategy was refreshed and two new areas of need identified; digital marketing support for projects and support for events to make the most of opportunities around the Scottish Government’s themed years for tourism and events development. This application would support two part time Events Executives to assist community events with these two new areas of activity. (£112,500)
Innovation Area ‘Diverse and Sustainable Rural Businesses’
Developing Leaders for Social Enterprise in the Borders
The project will employ a Learning Coordinator to organise training programmes for community leaders and those involved in the running of social enterprises and. The project aims to provide 500 days of learning for 90 learners. (£75,000)
Community Support to Income Generating Renewable Projects
The project will employ a Borders-based ‘Renewable Energy Income Generation Development Officer’ to work with community groups to develop their income-generating renewables projects. (£37,500)
Communities And Schools Carbon Reduction
A ‘Communities and Schools Carbon Reduction Officer’ will be recruited to facilitate partnerships between school Eco Groups, parent councils and community environmental groups. The focus for projects will be around energy use, resource efficiency, waste minimisation and recycling. (£37,774)
